One of the most overlooked aspects of a successful body transformation plan is lifestyle maintenance – otherwise known as sustainability.
People tend to focus on how they can achieve their goal in the most efficient and effortless way possible, while neglecting to look beyond their destination. They do not consider what it takes to maintain their body composition for the long term. Many people reach their goals but as time passes, they start going backwards. In fact, statistics show that over 90% of people who are successful at reaching their weight loss goal end up gaining the weight back in less than a year. This reality is due to the fact that individuals who choose to go the “quick fix route” are set up for failure from the start. In our years working in the health and fitness industry, our team at MacroNutrition has noticed the following:
Plans that require a major lifestyle change that people are not willing to commit to after they reach their goal, only last as long as the specific plan is followed. Once people reach their end goal, they cannot resume their normal dietary habits and expect to remain in the same physical condition.
We believe most people should focus on taking a more balanced approach to achieving their goals. We understand that food and eating is, and should remain, an important social and cultural aspect of a happy life.
Of course, there are always exceptions. There are people who choose to live a lifestyle that is more extreme. They might be a fitness competitor, elite athlete, or someone who simply likes the challenge and takes pride in their dietary approach; sometimes a more extreme plan is necessary to meet their goals. In fact, we have also had to give more aggressive plans to individuals such as actors and athletes, who had to reach their goal in a specific time frame for a specific event.
However, for most people, we do not believe that restrictive diet plans or radical lifestyle changes are the best way to help you reach your short term or long term goals. Unless of course you’re ready and willing to eat this way for the rest of your life. Instead, we believe a more balanced and flexible plan will be a more enjoyable and sustainable lifestyle that can assist you in reaching your personal goals and of course sustain them!
We believe in #FoodFreedom.
You should have the freedom to enjoy all varieties of food. From a slice of cake to a glass of wine, we believe you should be able to enjoy your favourite foods and still accomplish your body composition and health goals – because positive mental health and a good relationship with food is just as important as your daily fibre intake. By creating a plan that takes your lifestyle into account, you can achieve the results you seek while maintaining the life you want.
